Meet Jami Mohlenkamp, a Principal at OZ Architecture in Denver, Colorado and leader of the company’s Senior Living Practice Area. Jami earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied Environmental Design with an emphasis in Architecture.

Jami is passionate about creating innovative design that focuses on quality of life and increased socialization to reduce isolation. Isolation is more detrimental to the health of older adults than smoking one pack of cigarettes per day. Creating spaces that encourage a connection to others allows older adults to maintain personal relationships and to contribute to their community in a meaningful way.

Jami is passionate about combating ageism through his work designing senior living communities, including independent living, assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation facilities. Jami is committed to creating spaces that balance the needs of residents and the care providers offering services.

Jami first learned about careers in aging while working at a community with older adult residents. While in high school, Jami worked as a dining room server at Christian Living Communities. Jami has always been very close to his grandparents and is inspired by their experiences and entrepreneurial spirits, which encouraged him to chart a new course and keep innovation at the core of his work. These early experiences provided an opportunity for Jami to find his calling early in his career to innovate design for older adults.
