Meet Hannah Monroe, a Care Manager with Central Indiana Council on Aging (CICOA) Aging & In-Home Solutions. Hannah received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with a minor in Art & Design from Anderson University in Anderson, IN.

At a very young age, Hannah tagged alongside her grandmother, the star volunteer at a central Indiana senior community and learned the value of intergenerational relationships. With a childlike lens, Hannah watched her grandmother play her saxophone for residents and design meaningful activities for small groups. Hannah realized the loneliness and boredom experienced by so many elders and became increasingly passionate about finding ways to alleviate those unfortunate experiences.

Hannah’s first experience working in aging services was as a caregiver for an elder with dementia and she soon realized her love for the intimacy of one on one work. This first experience sent Hannah on a path of in-home caregiving, offering assistance with activities of daily living as well as seeking opportunities for positive growth and community involvement. This path led swiftly to a career of care management for multiple clients in Indianapolis to obtain access to programs in order to avoid institutionalization and thrive within their homes and communities.

Hannah is passionate about helping people find their power and value and strives to build bridges for the generations, hoping to create spaces of mutual understanding and respect.

Hannah's career advice: "Instead of asking yourself things like 'What should I do?' or 'What's my career path?', focus on finding the answer to 'How can I best serve my community?'"
